[NEW EVENT] Welcome Back Picnic

Sept 19: Welcome Back Picnic
Location: On the lake beside Morris Hall (click for map)*
Time: 12 pm - 3 pm
Price: FREE!

* If it is raining, we are planning to have it at the QUIC in JDUC or a TBD room in Mac-Corry.
† Membership costs $5!

Things to expect:

- tons of delicious onigiri or riceballs! These are essentially triangular shaped balls of rice and inside is a yummy filling. This year we are serving a few different types, one of which is made with furikake, a traditional dry Japanese condiment that has a fishy flavour. There will also be a vegetarian option, so never fear!

- hot miso soup! The days are getting colder so nothing can be better than a nice, warm bowl (or cup, in our case) of miso soup.

- a fun game of suikawari, literally: watermelon splitting. This is a traditional Japanese game played at the beach, at festivals, and at picnics. It involves spinning a blindfolded person around a few times, then pushing them in the direction of the watermelon (which is on the floor). The person then tries to crack the watermelon open with a wooden stick. Afterwards, everyone eats the watermelon!

I hope everyone gets a chance to come out to our first event! We are all really excited to meet you! Details concerning the location will be finalized shortly and an email will be sent out to everyone on our mailing list!
