Welcome to JRQ!

Hello and welcome to JRQ! Otherwise known as Japanese Relations at Queen's, this is a club established and located on Queen's campus.

As the name suggests, this club's main focus is the lovely nation of Japan. We aim to promote Japanese culture and foster international understanding to Queen's students and the Kingston community. We also serve as a bridge between exchange students from both Queen's and Japan. As such, we try to assist students going to Japan with information about the new lifestyle they will encounter and help students visiting Queen's from Japan adopt to the new environment.

Our club will provide fun social functions, being (hopefully) educational and cultural! Some of the usual events are: a sukiyaki night, where members gather in small groups to make a traditional Japanese hotpot with the aid of our exec team; a sushi night, where our chef will teach members to make both traditional and modern sushi rolls; and a semi-formal where other clubs of Asian interest may interact with each other.

Membership to the club costs $5 and will entail discounts to all our events as well as other perks, such as discounts to the Asian grocery, Asian restaurants, and other stores. Membership is open to any student or faculty member of Queen's and those interested from the Kingston community.

If you're interested in Japanese culture or are looking to make new international friends, come out to our events and meet our great exec team, eat lots of food, and have a fantastic time!
